Hi, I am upgrading my computer soon with a Intel core 2 duo, it has 2 CPU cores on the chip, i was just wondering if Zoomtext has any compatibility issues with muilticore CPUS or indeed in multiple CPUs.
Also any input about what kind of specifications that will improve the performance of ZT will be greatly appreciated for example Video cards or what ever.

Cheers,
Tom

Hi tom0_85,

At this time we have not tested with the Core Duo 2 processors. Currently we are not aware of any incompatibilities with Dual Core.

We have done some testing with Pentium D processors and there do not seem to be any issues. There were some problems with Hyperthreading processors, but these were 2 logical instead of physical processors.

If you're looking to improve performance, ZoomText is mainly bound by the CPU and system RAM. I'd recommend 1 GB of RAM, more than that might be overkill as far as XP is concerned. Other than that, the processor would be the most important component. Note: In regards of video cards, since we're not utilizing any hardware accelerated features, ZT performance in a high end vs. entry level video card would be identical.

Regards,

We have been recieving Dell's with Intel core Duo processors from our State contract with Zoomtext and havent ran into any problems at all with them.
