Hello…

I'm having some problems with JAWS 5.0 and ZoomText 8.1 running together. Here are the details.

1) I'm running with Windows XP Service Pack 1
2) The video driver is the Intel 82845G Graphics Controller version 6.14.10.3751 dated 1/16/2004.

When running with ZoomText 8.1 and JAWS 5.0 (prior to .844 version), I would get blue screens everytime I exitted JAWS while ZoomText was still running. I was told that JAWS 5.00.844 fixed this problem. So, I installed the .844 version of JAWS and it did fix this problem. However, everytime I tried to bring up a dialog box with JAWS (using Insert + F11 for the System Tray or Insert + F7 for the Links list in Internet Explorer), the system would slow to a crawl/freeze and JAWS would not read the dialog boxes.

Also, I began experiencing an intermittent problem with ZoomText. When trying to run it, it would pop up the ZoomText menu and the splash screen and then just freeze, never bringing up the program.

So, I just installed the new version of ZoomText 8.1 (8.10.1.6). I tried running it with JAWS 5.00.844. This seems to have fixed the dialog box problem. However, when I tried exitting JAWS while ZoomText was still running, the system blue-screened again. Now, I can't bring up ZoomText. The ZoomText menu displays and the spash screen displays, but the program never starts.

Any help you could provide would be greatly appreciated!

I don't have a solution but I know there are a lot of JAWS users here who might have an idea to help. Maybe try posting this to the ZoomText Yahoo Group

http://groups.yahoo.com/group/zoomtext

or maybe contact Freedom Scientific?

Please update to the latest available versions of both ZoomText and Jaws, this problem should no longer occur.
