Ai Squared is working hard on a version of ZoomText for Vista. ZoomText for Vista is expected to be released in conjunction with Vista.

Forum readers are encouraged to post Vista/ZoomText related topics for discussion here.

Thanks,
Shawn

Vista :?:

What exactly is Vista? Are there going to be any added features in the Zoom Text version that is going to be released for Vista that are not on the version supported by Windows ME/XP/98/95 ? Does the Vista version support English only or can you upgrade to acquire the other languages? If you have Windows XP how do you acquire getting Windows vista?

Thanks

Marissa S.

Vista is a new version of Windows.

Yes there will be new features in ZoomText that will be available on the other versions of Windows.

You can upgrade all versions of Windows and ZoomText to international languages.

Here is a link with info about upgrading to Windows Vista:

i have used vista for some time (rc2 = release candidate 2) and in a few weeks i will have the chance to use the final RTM version, but using zoomtext would help me a lot.

so i would really like being a beta tester, if your need any.

i use computers based on both intel and amd platforms and with both ati and nvidia cards.

Hi, since Vista is released to business customers today (30th November), can you confirm if 9.10 is being released soon (i.e. December sometime) or is it being released after Vista becomes available to the general public in February 07? I'm not asking from a using it on Vista point of view, more that I am about to buy a ZT upgrade and software maintenance, and I'd rather buy 9.10 and get the next two releases after that automatically, instead of buying 9.0 now and using up one of my maintenance 'slots' to get 9.10. If that makes sense

When exactly ZT for Vista will be released is a very difficult question to answer. We have been working on Vista support for over a year now. Now that Vista has gone gold we no longer have to react changes from one beta build to another. We can now focus on testing, exposing issues and fixing them. This is the process we're in right now. We still have not uncovered all the problems to overcome and of course we don't know how long it will take to fix problems we have not exposed yet. Finally, we will not release a product that is sub-standard even if that means loosing sales. That said, our expectation is to release when it is available to the general public. We will not be selling ZoomText for Vista in December.

See; that's why I think AI2 is great. A lot of other companies would just rush-release a buggy product to reap the profits instead of focusing on quality. I've found that each major upgrade of ZoomText has been well worth the money paid.

Any latest news on when the Vista compatible version of ZT will be released? (can you tell I'm itching to buy it? )

Thanks, Andy

Wanted to know if this version of Zoom Text (The one set to be relased for Windows Vista) Will only be specifically for Vista only or will it be also avaible for Windows XP,98,95,ME. I have Windows XP and I want to be able to download the new version of Zoom Text but only if it will be avalible for Windows XP. I have heard that Vista is not that good so I don't want to switch to Vista just to download the new version of Zoom Text. Thanks for comments

I belive it will be backwards compatable with Windows XP at the very least- not sure about '98 or ME; but I wouldn't hold my breath. I'd wait for official word from AI2 before ordering it.

Paul what do you mean it will be backwards compatible with Windows XP? Need more clearfication on that I am a bit confused. I thought either a program was either compatible or not compatible never heard of backwords compatible. What do you have to do to make the new version of Zoom Text compatible with Windows XP?

Okay; I mis-spoke. I should have just said "compatable". I believe it will just install and run on Windows XP the same as 9.0 does. As far as I know you won't have to do anything special to make it run on Windows XP. Sorry about the confusion.
