How to enlarge the Windows XP Logon Screen

Postby JamesSoftware » Sat Dec 18, 2004 6:43 am

To be able to see which account you want to log onto on any Win XP computer, do the following.
Press and hold the Window's Flag Key (only on keyboards with over 101 keys). Press the \"U\" key and release both. A small dialog box will show up and be read aloud (in a mechanical voice). When the speech starts press the TAB key. It should say \"START BUTTON, PRESS... SPACE\". When you press the SPACE BAR the screen will become magnified.
From there you can press SHIFT-TAB, Down-Arrow, TAB, and then SPACE to shut off the speech. You can set any or all of these utilities to auto-start. Later you can return to this dialog-box to turn these utilities off, by clicking UTILITY MANAGER in the Task Bar.

Does ZT have to be OFF before you do this?

I have a problem with hibernation on a laptop. Whe I wake it up I get a small print logon screen which I can't see, so I had to shut down the hibernation which I would rather not do.

Maria,

So far as I am aware, you do not have to turn off magnification to do what James suggested (but I could be wrong). Try it, and let us know. :)

One more idea- there might be a setting in Windows that will eliminate that login screen after you come back from hibernation. I don't use login screens in Windows so maybe somebody else here could be of help with that.

I found the way to get rid of the XP logon screen after the laptop woke from hibernation. The logon screen was gone but ZT was also
disabled.

I tried the utility manager. It worked but my cursor seemed to disappear and I was stuck in the utility. Oh well, I'll have to find
someone to come and set it up properly. I 'm not a computer expert.

I wonder if the utility magnifier works on a, Windows severe disk error, dreaded blue screen.

Thanks for your tips, at least now I know how things work.

Maria,

Please report the issue about the curser disapearing in the utility manager to support@aisquared.com. I can't reproduce it on my end, but it sounds like a bug to me! Thanks! :)
