After resetting IE, AppReader won't work

Postby Paul » Mon Mar 12, 2007 12:50 am

I had to re-set Internet Explorer's settings today and after I did; AppReader and DocReader didn't work (because the ah_ie_bho.dll add-on was no longer enabled, apparently).

The problem is; I don't know how to re-enable it. Do I have to re-install ZoomText? The ah_ie_bho.dll is still on my computer; it's just not in the list of IE Add-Ons anymore since those were all restored to default when I re-set IE's settings). Anyone have any ideas? THe Knowledge Base article on the matter doesn't really help.

Gary from Ai Squared repiled to my email to support@aisquared.com with these directions which I thought I'd post here:

1. Close all applications.
2. At the ZoomText main menu, choose Help.
3. Choose Tech Support.
4. Into the FixIt command section, type AHOI and click the FixIt
button.
5. Highlight the AHOI module you wish to re-register. (Internet
Explorer)
6. Click the Remove Module button.
7. Click on the Add Module... button.
8. Highlight the appropriate module (ah_ie.dll) and click the Open
button.
9. Click the Exit button.
10. Exit and restart ZoomText.

In addition to those steps; I had to go to Internet Explorer's Tools > Manage Add-Ons > Enable Or Disable Add-Ons and re-enable the AHOI add-on (it's disabled by default for some reason which means AppReader/DocReader won't work unless it's Enabled)).

After doing that; AppReader and DocReader worked fine again. :D Thanks Gary!

IE 7?

Postby Shane » Mon Oct 22, 2007 7:25 pm

I too need to reset my IE since it keeps freezing up pretty much every time I use it especially on Google and eBay. 2 of my most used sites ... sheesh.

Anyhow I went through these steps and well ... still no reader or mouse eccos at all. Doc reader gives me an error (ID #12)

Might I need something diff or IE 7?

Thanks for the help.
