PROBLEM
Uninstalling ZoomText Xtra version 7.10 Trial breaks OPENBook.
CAUSE
The ZoomText uninstall program also uninstalls IBM's ViaVoice synthesizer. ViaVoice is shipped with both OPENBook and ZoomText. The licensing agreement Ai Squared has with IBM requires the ZoomText uninstall program to uninstall ViaVoice. The uninstall is only required if the ZoomText setup program installs ViaVoice. The setup program is designed to only install ViaVoice only if it is not already on the target system. The setup program is failing to detect an existing version of ViaVoice on target systems that have OPENBook installed.
SOLUTIONS
To fix the problem you must reinstall OPENBook. To prevent the ZoomText uninstall program from uninstalling ViaVoice install ZoomText using the parameter /nv to setup.exe's command line (for example, choose run from the Windows Start Menu and type d:\setup.exe /nv where d: is the drive containing the ZoomText installation CD.)
COMMENTS
This is not a problem with ZoomText Xtra Level 1 and ZoomText Xtra Level 2.
