The information in this article applies to:

  • BigShot 2.xx

BigShot is designed and tested to insure the highest level of video compatibility. However, with the rapid deployment of new video cards and display drivers, new problems may occasionally occur. Video card conflicts can cause problems when starting and exiting BigShot or can cause screen corruption to occur. Video card conflicts can usually be resolved by one or more of the following:

  • Adjust the hardware acceleration
  • Adjust the display resolution and/or color palette settings
  • Installing an updated or substitute display driver

To adjust the Graphics hardware acceleration:

  1. Select Start > Settings > Control Panel > System
  2. In the System Properties dialog, select Performance (tab) > Graphics
  3. Move the Hardware Acceleration slider one setting (notch) to the left
  4. Click the OK button and then restart the system
  5. If the problem still exist, repeat steps 1-4 NOTE: Setting the slider to the far left results in no graphics acceleration. Although this setting may eliminate problems with screen corruption it will also result in slow graphics performance (not a desirable setting).

To switch the display resolution and/or color palette settings

  1. Select Control Panel > System > Display > Settings (tab).
  2. Select a new color setting (High Color or True Color).
  3. Select a new desktop area setting (resolution setting).
  4. Click the Apply or OK button.
  5. You may be prompted to restart the system in order for the new settings to take effect.

To install an updated or substitute display driver

If adjustments to the hardware acceleration, resolution and color settings do not resolve a display problem, the next step is to install an updated or substitute display driver. The best source for obtaining a substitute driver is from the manufacture of the video card or chip set (primary video processor located on the video card). Drivers can usually be downloaded from the manufacturer's website.
