The information in this article applies to:
- ZoomText 8.11 and earlier
PROBLEM
After installing ZoomText on a system configured
for multiple display devices (also referred to as Dual Monitors), the
following problems may occur:
- When you attempt to start the system, before the Windows desktop appears the system reboots (in a continuous loop).
- When you attempt to start ZoomText, the system crashes.
- When you open the Display Properties dialog and select the Settings tab, the system crashes.
SOLUTION
To resolve this problem you must disable all secondary display devices, as follows:
- If you are experiencing system reboots on startup, restart Windows in Safe Mode. Otherwise, skip to step 2.
- In the Windows Start menu, select Control Panel.
- If the Control Panel is in Category View, click
on the ‘Performance and Maintenance’ icon. If the Control Panel is in
Classic View, skip to step 4.
- Click on the System icon.
- In the System Properties dialog box, select the ‘Hardware’ tab.
- Click the ‘Device Manager’ button.
- Double-click 'Display adapters'.
- Right-click on each device ending with 'Secondary'.
- In the shortcut menu, select Disable.
- Restart your computer.
