  • ZoomText 8.11 and earlier

PROBLEM

After installing ZoomText on a system configured for multiple display devices (also referred to as Dual Monitors), the following problems may occur:

  • When you attempt to start the system, before the Windows desktop appears the system reboots (in a continuous loop).
  • When you attempt to start ZoomText, the system crashes.
  • When you open the Display Properties dialog and select the Settings tab, the system crashes.

SOLUTION

To resolve this problem you must disable all secondary display devices, as follows:

  1. If you are experiencing system reboots on startup, restart Windows in Safe Mode. Otherwise, skip to step 2.
  2. In the Windows Start menu, select Control Panel.
  3. If the Control Panel is in Category View, click on the ‘Performance and Maintenance’ icon. If the Control Panel is in Classic View, skip to step 4.
  4. Click on the System icon.
  5. In the System Properties dialog box, select the ‘Hardware’ tab.
  6. Click the ‘Device Manager’ button.
  7. Double-click 'Display adapters'.
  8. Right-click on each device ending with 'Secondary'.
  9. In the shortcut menu, select Disable.
  10. Restart your computer.
