KB: Errors occur when starting ZoomText 8.11 and later on French and German versions of Windows

The information in this article applies to:
- ZoomText 8.11 and later
- Windows XP, 2000 and NT4
PROBLEM
On systems containing French or German versions of Windows XP, 2000 or NT4, and utilizing the NTFS file system; the following errors may occur when attempting to run ZoomText:
"ZoomText is not properly installed. Please run the installation program again."
These errors occur because the user does not have required execution privileges for the following files:
- C:\Programme\ZoomText 8.1\ (and all sub files and folders)
- C:\Windows\System 32\Zosf.dll
- C:\Windows\System 32\MFC71.dll
- C:\Windows\System 32\msvcr71.dll
- Files for speech synthesizers in use
SOLUTION
In order to make ZoomText work properly the restricted user must be granted ‘Full Control over the folders and files listed above.
