  • ZoomText 9
  • Kensington MouseWorks software

PROBLEM

When running ZoomText on a computer that has a Kensington mouse or trackball, and Kensington's MouseWorks software, the system may randomly crash.

WORKAROUND

Update to the latest version of ZoomText. This problem was fixed in version 9.02.1. This version was released March 16, 2006.

For earlier versions of ZoomText disable the MouseWorks software from running at startup:

  1. In the Windows Start menu, select Run.
  2. In the Open: combo box, type: MSCONFIG
  3. Click OK.

This will open the System Configuration Utility.

  4. Click on the Startup tab.
  5. Uncheck the following Startup Item:

    Kmw_run.exe

  6. Click Apply, then click Close.
  7. Click Restart.

Note:

This software does not need to be running in order to use a Kensington mouse or trackball device. It is only needed to make custom changes to button configurations and other options.
