KB: Pointer color cannot be changed using ZoomText Pointer Enhancement

KB#: 138
Last updated: March 01 2006

The information in this article applies to:

  • ZoomText 9

PROBLEM

When selecting one of ZoomText’s pointer enhancement schemes, the mouse pointer does not change to the color defined by the selected scheme. For example, when selecting the “Yellow with Full Cross” scheme, the pointer remains white, instead of changing to yellow.

CAUSE

This problem occurs when the Windows operating system is using non-standard pointers.

WORKAROUND

To use ZoomText’s colored pointers, set the Windows pointer scheme to "(None)" as follows:

  1. In the Windows Control Panel, open the Mouse application.
  2. In the Mouse Properties dialog, select the Pointers tab.
  3. In the Scheme dropdown box, select “(None)".
  4. Click the OK button.
