  • ZoomText 9.xx, 8.xx, and 7.xx
  • BigShot 2.xx

PROBLEM

On some systems, while installing or starting ZoomText or BigShot, the following errors may occur:

  • "16 bit windows subsystem c:\windows\system32\config.nt. This system file is not suitable for running msdos and MS Windows applications. Close to terminate the applications."

CAUSE

These problems occur when the config.nt and/or autoexec.nt system files are missing or corrupted.

SOLUTION

To resolve this problem, copy these files from the Windows Repair directory to the System32 directory as follows:

  1. Navigate to the C:\Windows\Repair folder via My Computer or Windows Explorer.
  2. Right-click on the “config.nt” file or “autoexec.nt” file and select Copy.
  3. Navigate to the C:\Windows\System32 folder .
  4. Left-click in an empty space within this folder, then right-click and select Copy.
  5. Restart your system, then install or start ZoomText again.

Note: If the C:\Windows\Repair folder is not present on your machine, you can extract the required files from the Windows Recovery Console. Please refer to your PC manufacturer or Microsoft's Knowledge base on using Recovery console:
