KB: Error: “Invalid Plugin Detected. Adobe Will Quit.” when starting Adobe Reader 8.1

PROBLEM
If ZoomText is 8.1 or 9.0 are installed on your system, when starting Adobe Reader 8.1 the following error will occur:
“Invalid Plugin Detected. Adobe Will Quit.”
SOLUTION
This problem can be resolved as follows:
- Exit Adobe Reader.
- Right-click on the Adobe Reader Icon and choose Properties . From the Shortcut tab click on Find Target button. Double click on the Plug_ins folder, right click on the file Ai2Z_PdfAhoi.api and choose Delete , click Yes to delete this file.
- Start Adobe Reader.
- From the Adobe Reader tool bar select Edit > Preferences .
- Under Categories choose General and uncheck Use only Certified Plug ins .
- Under Categories choose Document and uncheck Show each document in its own window .
- Under Categories choose Internet and uncheck Display PDF in browser .
- Click Ok , then exit Adobe Reader and restart your computer.
- While Adobe Reader is closed, right-click on the ZoomText Icon and choose Properties . From the Shortcut tab click on Find Target button. Double click on the Inst folder, right click on the file Ai2Z_PdfAhoi.api and choose Copy .
- Navigate to C:\Program Files folder, double click on Adobe folder, double-click on Reader 8 folder, double-click on Reader folder, double-click on Plug_ins folder, press Ctrl V to paste Ai2Z_PdfAhoi.api file into this folder.
- Start Adobe Reader.
