Last updated: January 14 2010
The information in this article applies to:

Since ZoomText version 9.18.5 was introduced, along came new support for reading PDF documents in Adobe. This support will allow ZoomText to read PDF documents that have their security setting "Content Copying for Accessibility" set to allowed, while "Content Copying" is set to "not allowed". This support requires version 9.2 or higher of Adobe Acrobat Reader. Please refer to KB Article
#210 for more details about this new support of reading secured PDF files.
PROBLEM
It has been discovered since the introduction of the 9.18.5 or higher version of ZoomText if you have Adobe Acrobat version 9.0 or earlier you will have problems with ZoomText not reading PDF files in Adobe Acrobat whether they are a secured PDF file or not.
SYMPTOMS
DocReader you will get an error message stating the following: DocReader did not detect any text in the active document (AVPageView). (ID #13).
AppReader does nothing. - It will not allow you to click inside the document. You have the mouse pointer with the small box under the mouse pointer as if it is ready to start AppReader but when you click in the document it does not start.
SOLUTION
If you have a version of Adobe Acrobat that is earlier than 9.0:
You either need to upgrade to the 9.2 or later version of Adobe Acrobat from Adobe (
www.adobe.com).
Or
If you want to stay with the earlier version of Adobe Acrobat you have at the moment you have to contact Ai Squared Technical Support at (802) 362-3612 option #3 or
support@aisquared.com and request a ZoomText Adobe Ahoi swap utility program that will give ZoomText the preexisting Adobe ahoi file it had before the ZoomText 9.18.5 version to read in Adobe Acrobat.
If you have a version of Adobe Acrobat that is 9.0:
Update your version of Adobe to the latest version by clicking on the Help menu in Adobe Acrobat then click on Check for Updates. Run the update wizard to update Adobe Acrobat to the latest version.
