KB: Uninstalling Internet Explorer 9 Update

If you do have Internet Explorer 9 installed on your PC below are a set of instructions on how to uninstall Internet Explorer 9.

* Special Note – This is only for systems that have been updated to Internet Explorer 9 and not have Internet Explorer 9 preinstalled on the PC when they purchased the PC.

To uninstall Internet Explorer 9 if you're running Windows 7:

1. Click the Start button.
2. Click on Control Panel.
3. If you are in the Category view in Control Panel click on Programs. * If you are in the Large icons or Small icons view skip to the next step.
4. Then click on Programs and Features.
5. Click View installed updates in the left pane.
6. Under Uninstall an update, scroll down to the Microsoft Windows section.
7. Look for Windows Internet Explorer 9.
8. Click on Windows Internet Explorer 9, then go up above and then click Uninstall, and then, when prompted, click Yes.
9. Click on the Restart now (to finish the process of uninstalling Internet Explorer 9, and restoring the previous version of Internet Explorer).

To uninstall Internet Explorer 9 if you're running Windows Vista:

1. Click the Start button.
2. Click on Control Panel.
3. In the left pane there is an option for Control Panel Home view or Classic view.
4. Make sure the one for Classic View has been selected.
5. Then click on Programs and Features.
6. Click View installed updates in the left pane.
7. Under Uninstall an update, scroll down to the Microsoft Windows section.
8. Look for Windows Internet Explorer 9.
9. Click on Windows Internet Explorer 9, then go up above and then click Uninstall, and then, when prompted, click Yes.
10. Click on the Restart now (to finish the process of uninstalling Internet Explorer 9, and restoring the previous version of Internet Explorer).

*Notes*
After you uninstall Internet Explorer 9, the previously installed version of Internet Explorer will be available on your computer. It is not necessary to reinstall.
