Adobe Reader 8.x
Windows XP, or Vista
PROBLEM
After installing or upgrading to Adobe Reader 8.x an error message appears when launching ZoomText's AppReader or DocReader. To resolve this problem do the following.
SOLUTION
Start Adobe Reader.
From the Adobe Reader tool bar, select Edit > Preferences.
Under Categories choose General and uncheck Use only Certified Plug ins.
Under Categories choose Document and uncheck Show each document in its own window.
Under Categories choose Internet and uncheck Display PDF in browser.
Click Ok.
Exit Adobe and restart your computer.
Notes:
If the above procedure does not resolve the problem:
The PDF document may be a scanned image of the text and not actual text. To confirm this, try copying the document into WordPad and see if you can edit it.
The PDF document may be a copyrighted or locked document where the text is not accessible for content copying and hence ZoomText cannot access the text inside this document.
