KB: “ZoomText is unable to communicate with its display driver” error on an Acer Aspire 600 touch screen

The information in this article applies to:

- Acer Aspire 600 touch notebook computer
- Windows 7
PROBLEM
When launching ZoomText in Acer Aspire 600 notebook computer with Windows 7 operating system, the following error occurs:
ZoomText is unable to communicate with its display driver.
This problem is due to an incompatibility between ZoomText and Acer TouchMusic which comes with this computer.
SOLUTION
Until this problem can be fixed the current work around is to disable Acer TouchMusic. Here are the steps to do this:
- Click the Start button and start typing in the search field. Type "msconfig" and then press the Enter key.
- The System Configuration window will open. Click on the Startup tab.
- Under the Startup Items find Acer TouchMusic and uncheck it.
- Click OK, and click on Restart computer.
- When the computer restarts a message box will appear stating that you have used the System Configuration Utility.
- Check the box labeled "Don't show this message or launch the System Configuration utility when Windows start".
- Click the OK button.
